About PAL

The Pacific Art League's mission is to enrich lives though art: education, exhibition, and community.

Since 1921, the Pacific Art League has been a community of and for artists (new, emerging, and professional). Founded as "The Palo Alto Art Club," we created a valuable addition to the San Francisco Peninsula's cultural life.

We are a membership organization, guided and managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, who are also long time members. We are assisted by many Volunteer Leaders who bring expertise and dedication to a wide variety of projects.

The Pacific Art League is an inviting place for anyone who wants to create art. Nearly two-thirds of our members describe themselves as amateur or student artists. Members frequently comment that the Art League is more than just a place to exhibit art and take classes. Rather, it is a community of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and skills who come together to express themselves through art.

We offer:

  • Fine arts classes that enroll more than 1,600 students a year.
  • Exhibition opportunities that display more than 7,200 pieces of member's artwork annually.
  • A street-front gallery store where members can sell art - and the community can buy quality pieces of original art at reasonable prices.
  • After-school classes and summer art camp sessions that introduce children to the world of fine arts.
  • The biennial Pacific Prints Show, a renowned juried event that draws hundreds of entries from the five Pacific Rim states and British Columbia.
  • Studio rental and scheduled open studio time
  • Lectures, workshops, and special events.
  • Many opportunities to volunteer for fun projects that benefit the community!
