• PAL members may submit work to be juried into the Art Rental program without paying a jury fee. PAL membership must be in good standing.
• Non-members must pay a $50 jury fee in order to submit work to be juried in the program
• All artists must pass the Art Rental jury process.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions are juried approximately twice per year (future date tbd) by a panel of jurors. Artists not accepted in the current round of jurying are eligible to re-apply to following rounds. If a non-member is not accepted, the artist must pay $50 for each round of jurying.

Please submit on a CD:

• 5 different pieces of work formatted to the following specifications:
  • JPEG
  • 4 in. X 6 in.
  • 300 DPI
  • Maximum 2 images per piece
  • Submitted pieces must be available for rent at time of submission (the minimum rental period is 3 months; do not submit works you are not willing to rent for a period of at least 3 months).
• Image List - For each image, include title, medium, dimensions, and retail price (provide as a printed document and as a text file on the CD)

We reserve the right to suggest and set price for rental work. This will be done in cooperation and approved by artist before the artist is eligible to participate. View the Art Rental Price Structure.

• Artist Statement/Biography (provide as a separate text file)
• Artist Resume: list show history, education, awards, collections, etc(provide as a separate text file)

Criteria for determining an Art Rental candidate:

• Creativity & Originality
  • Is there originality in the design and subject matter?
  • Is there a creative use of materials/technique?
• Craftsmanship & Skill
  • Is there an understanding of the materials used?
  • Is there mastery of the technique used?
  • Is the piece well-constructed?
• Voice
  • Is the artist working on development of personal style?
  • Is the piece predictable or does it push the limits?
• Content
  • Does the artwork reflect the mission of the Art Rental program?

Participation Guidelines:

• Upon acceptance into the Art Rental program, some images of the artist’s work will be entered into a database accessible via the PAL web site.
• The artist will be contacted when a client expresses interest in renting the artist’s work.
• Artists will receive 60% of Art Rental fee, and 60% of retail price when artwork is sold.
• Rented works must be ready to install:
  
  • Original work must be available to rent. NO reproductions (such as giclee prints) will be accepted.
  • All work must be presented in a professional manner.
  • 2D works must be framed or gallery wrapped.
  • Wires must be attached with flat fasteners (such as a D ring or a flat T) inset as much as. Eyehooks and other hardware that project off the back of artwork are not acceptable.
  • Quality of display mechanisms will be reviewed prior to its delivery to client.
  • Pedestal (for 3D works) must be provided by artist.
  • Standardized PAL Art labels will be provided to artist to display with their art.

• PAL membership must remain in good standing.
• Once a non-member is accepted into the program, the $50 jury fee will be valid for one-year. If the non-member would like to continue in the program, the artist must pay a yearly $50 Art Rental administration fee.
